Little Hands, Big Stories – creative workshops in the yurt
As the days grow shorter and nature slowly settles into rest, warmth is kindled in the yurt at Lunina dolina. This autumn and winter we invite children to five creative workshops — four Sunday afternoons and one school-holiday morning — where they will work with natural materials — wax, wool and paper — with their own hands and discover the stories these materials carry.
Programme
- Sunday, 25 October, 2–4 pm —
When Beeswax Comes Alive
bees, natural materials, creativity · a candle from a beeswax honeycomb sheet and a wax decoration - Wednesday, 28 October, 10 am–12 noon (autumn school holidays) —
Little Light of Kindness, part 1
fairy tale, inner light · a story and making a lantern - Sunday, 15 November, 2–4 pm —
Little Light of Kindness, part 2 – a festival of light and compassion
St Martin's Day, compassion, inner light · a story, lanterns and a shared lantern walk at dusk, to which we also invite parents - Sunday, 29 November, 2–4 pm —
Angels from Sheep's Wool
sheep, wool, Advent · on the first Sunday of Advent, from sheep to angel - Sunday, 13 December, 2–4 pm —
A Gift from Little Hands
giving, gratitude · a greeting card from carded wool and a gift bag the children decorate and fill themselves
Each workshop stands on its own — children can come to one or to all five. The Little Light of Kindness has two parts that build on each other: children who make a lantern on 28 October bring it along on 15 November and make another one — for a grandparent. You are also welcome to come to just one part. Registration is separate for each workshop; you will find the link on the page of each workshop.

Who it is for
- Age: children aged 4 to 10
- Language: the workshop is held in Slovenian, and in English whenever needed — our team speaks Slovenian and English and understands German well
- Supervision: the workshop is designed for children to create on their own — parents drop them off and pick them up at the end. If a younger child is not yet ready to stay without a parent, we can arrange with the mentor for a parent to stay; just let us know when you register.
- Places: 15 children — places are filled in order of registration
- Price: €10 per child, including all materials and a snack — payment on site
Snack
While they create, the children get warm tea and a light snack — some fresh and dried fruit, bread and cheese. If your child has an allergy or special dietary needs, please let us know when you register. When you pick up your children, there is tea for parents too.
What to wear and bring
- Warm, comfortable clothes that can get a little messy
- Shoes for grass and mud — we walk across the farm to the yurt
- Slippers or warm socks — we take our shoes off in the yurt
- Curiosity and a good mood ♡
With our mentor Hadeja
We run the workshops together with Hadeja Adeva Horvat, an experienced Waldorf kindergarten teacher from Zavod Livija, an organisation that supports empowered and caring families. Hadeja leads the workshops as mentor; we take care of the space, the materials and the warmth of the yurt.
We look forward to little hands, big questions and the stories that will come to life in the yurt.
