Straight from Mongolia
When we decided to put up a yurt, we wanted something genuine — so we imported it straight from Mongolia, with the original traditional instructions and measurements. For us, used to European standards where a millimetre is simply a millimetre, the "Mongolian centimetre" was a mild culture shock — a considerably more "flexible" concept than we had expected. Putting it up was a real test of patience, resourcefulness and creative expression. But it stands firm and proud in the middle of our valley.
A yurt is not an ordinary tent — it is the ancient dwelling of nomads, developed thousands of years ago in Central Asia, designed so it can be assembled, taken down and transported quickly, while withstanding brutal winter winds and summer heat.
